Trinkets

Some may gaze longingly at swords and shields. And still others may have an unwuenchable thirst for knowledge and carry with them a spellbook. However there’s more to power than spells and weapons. For what use are spells if you have not the will to cast them? Of what use weapons of your strength fails you?

This my friends is why I wield the humble and inconspicuous Trinket. Trinkets are usually small and fashionable items that a person can hold in their hand, or wear as a piece of jewelry. These items are then blessed by a powerful deity and inscribed with archaic tunes of power. Or they are packed full of strange and marvelous Tower machinery. And through the most precise calculations and designs, the clockwork movement and rare materials interact to convert Astral energy into usable power.

Once Trinkets were the rarest of heirlooms. Created only by powerful gods, and even then rarely so. But the fate of the Trinket became much brighter when the Archmagus Tesla came into the realms. With his unrivaled technomantic skill and knowledge, he devised nearly every invention that Astral souls use everyday in Jusr about every circumstance. From telescryers to magnetomagical levitation. Astral Sails to navigation systems and beacons, and even the armies of the tower. All came about because one man.

And one of my personal favorites are Tesla series trinkets. These are beautiful works of intricate craftsmanship and exquisite design. Each Trinket made specially by master craftsman. Taking the shape of a fine pocketwatch, Tesla series trinkets not only keep perfect time, they also act as an Astral conductor. Having one of these magical devices on your person allows you to convert more Astral energy into power at a significantly increased rate. And the Tesla series trinkets don’t disappoint. Enhanced energy regeneration along with much faster thinking. A watch that actually makes its wearer smarter... imagine that! And there are of course several tiers of Tesla Trinkets. None are cheap, however the most effective and beautiful ones can cost more than some towns earn in the entirety in a lifetime. A series III Tesla timepiece is considered one of the most valuable items a person can own. A treasure that will last for generations and never fall out of use.

And alongside the Tesla made beauties are the old style trinkets. Also very rare and expensive, they are usually decorative or symbolically significant items and heirlooms. Unlike the Tesla Timepiece which is small subdued and elegant. Divine Trinkets tend to be bright shiny and attract a lot of attention. Not only are you carrying around a small fortunes worth of jewels and precious metals around, divine trinkets also glow with a bright and unmissable light. Definitely not the best choice for stealth missions, but always a great choice if you wish to be invincible. Need more Divine insight to cast the right spells? Want to be shielded with divine power, granted massive regeneration ability from all damage, and summon a badass Valkyrie to fight alongside you? Normally that sort of spellcasting takes all day, but with a rank III Divine Trinket, you can do it in moments.

Truly skilled and masterful adventurers use the power granted by a Trinket in many interesting ways and combinations. But one thing’s for sure, when it comes to power. Bigger isn’t always better. If you manage to come across one of these treasures during your travels, hold on and don’t let go. One makes you smarter, the other makes you wiser.

Either way, you’re better off.
